Wil Aballe Art Projects | WAAP is pleased to announce its first exhibition with Matthew Shields. The exhibition will include works of bricolage built on worn pants and a sand sculpture in the form of a throne. The exhibition also features a video, Tim, 2015 presented in lifescale on a large flatscreen monitor. Tim is a video portrait of an older man standing on an urban rooftop, singing songs and handling wooden puppets. The songs are traditional doggerel, full of obscenities and grotesque imagery. One original song takes humorous and critical aim at ex-prime minister, Stephen Harper.
MATTHEW SHIELDS is a Vancouver based artist. His work was recently shown at the Vancouver Art Gallery in the exhibition An Agreeable State of Uncertainty.
